Stepping into a New Adventure - Fulltime Rving

Ever wonder, What if? 

Many times, Alicia and I have had conversations around that topic.  What if we…  What if, we learned, is the prompt that changes everything. 

We have been dreaming for this day for a long time, the day we become full time RVers. We have been preparing for about a year and it is finally here.  This blog is part of the dream. 

Three years ago, we lived in a small town in Arkansas.  We belonged to a great church and had great friends.  We also lived six hours from our daughter and her family.  One of our greatest “what ifs” was, what if we lived near our daughter and her family? 

The fear of the unknown kept us in one place.  Then one day, God nudged us to take a step in to our “what if”.  We were putting our house up for sale, preparing for a new granddaughter, and a move to Missouri a month later.  This was the opportunity that we needed to take a step.  This was a step faith, to lean into what God was doing and trust in Him.

We have lived in Missouri near our daughter and her family for the past three years.  It was a great experience.  We got to be closer to our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters.  We would not trade that for the world.  We found a wonderful church and a place to serve. 

However, we seemed to be a bit unsettled.  We knew one day our daughter’s family would be leaving because they had plans to move West.  Because of the crazy housing market, we struggled to find a home.  We lived in an apartment the whole time.  Knowing what we did we realized maybe this was just a stopping point and we began praying about what was next.

We prayed for direction and wisdom in preparation for what was coming next.  Our son-in-law’s parents were traveling the country in their RV and our daughter suggested we consider that as an option because she knew it was something we always dreamed of doing.  We had always thought it was just a dream.  As we continued to pray, we realized that this dream could be a reality.  So, in November of 2022 we laid out a plan to see if this idea of driving and dreaming could really happen.

Fast forward to February 2024, as we finalize our packing and wrap up all the loose ends before moving into our new fifth wheel trailer.  We are writing this blog to people considering the full-time RV life. Along the way, we’ll also have some tips and tricks for camping and even give you information on great places to visit.  When we’re not in our RV, we like to take to the sea! So, cruisers, we’ll have things for you too!

We are Driving & Dreaming.  We plan to drive and dream all over this great country sharing with others the places we see and the things we learn.  We’re going to make new friends, visit old friends, and celebrate this place we all call home.  We want to help you enjoy life and keep living life one mile at a time.
